Jarrod is a young man who has the Black Lion Animal Spirit inside him, and for this reason he was recruited by the warrior monks of the Order of the Claw (Pai Zhua). But he had a weak heart and a lot of bitterness and anger in him, and when he was turned down for a position of responsibility guarding the casket of the evil Phantom Beast King, Dai Shi, he came back to the temple he trained at and attacked Casey, the warrior appointed instead of him. In the process, the casket was broken, and he was possessed by Dai Shi, who was the season's villain. Dai Shi used him as a vessel as he worked to destroy humanity, and in particular the humans of Ocean Bluff, California.
However, Jarrod's softer side grew, especially in response to one of Dai Shi's underlings, Camille. Eventually he was able to reclaim use of his own body and help the Power Rangers defeat Dai Shi with power of the Lion Spirit inside him.
Default canon point is post-series, as Jarrod tries to put his life back together ater Dai Shi.
